About the iPhone 14

The iPhone 14 came out in September 2022 as the standard model in Apple's iPhone 14 line-up, sitting under the 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. It kept the look of the iPhone 13: a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen, flat aluminium sides, glass back and the notch at the top. Inside is the A15 Bionic chip with the 5-core GPU that Apple first used in the 13 Pro, 6 GB of RAM, and a choice of 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB storage.

The camera is where it improved most over the 13. The 12 MP main camera got a bigger sensor and a faster f/1.5 lens, so indoor and night photos come out cleaner with less noise. There is a 12 MP ultra wide on the back, and the front camera got autofocus for the first time. Action mode keeps handheld video steady, which is handy for kids' school events and the desert.

A few things to know before you buy. It charges over Lightning, not USB-C. The screen runs at 60 Hz, not 120 Hz like the Pro. Battery is rated for up to 20 hours of video. It has 5G, IP68 water resistance, Crash Detection and dual SIM (one nano-SIM plus eSIM) on the UAE and international model A2882. Colours are Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple, Yellow and (PRODUCT)RED.

Still worth buying in 2026?

Yes, if your budget is under AED 1,500 and you want a phone that still gets updates. Apple confirmed iOS 27 runs on the iPhone 11 and later, so the iPhone 14 is covered for 2026 and should see security updates for a couple of years after that.

What you give up: there is no Apple Intelligence (that needs the 15 Pro or newer), no Dynamic Island, and the screen is 60 Hz. If none of that matters to you, the iPhone 14 does everything a daily phone needs to do. WhatsApp, banking apps, Careem, Google Maps, the camera for family photos, all of it runs without any lag.

It is a good pick for a first iPhone, a phone for a parent or teenager, or a work phone. If you take a lot of photos or keep your phone for four years or more, spend a bit more on the iPhone 15 and get USB-C and the 48 MP camera.

Availability in the UAE

Apple stopped selling the iPhone 14 in early 2025, when the iPhone 16e replaced it at the bottom of the line-up. It is no longer on Apple's UAE store, and the big electronics chains have cleared their stock. The only way to buy one now is renewed or used.

At launch the iPhone 14 cost AED 3,399 for the 128 GB model in the UAE. Renewed, it is a fraction of that. Every iPhone 14 at Refab is Excellent Grade with an original screen and at least 90% battery health, and it comes with an 18-month warranty, six months longer than Apple gave it new. The price you see above is for the storage and colour you pick, and you can split it into four payments with Tabby or Tamara.

How the iPhone 14 compares

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13

Same size, same screen, same A15 chip family. The 14 has a better main camera in low light, autofocus on the front camera, Action mode and Crash Detection. The iPhone 13 is usually a couple of hundred dirhams cheaper. If the price gap is small, take the 14.

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus is the same phone with a 6.7-inch screen and a much bigger battery (up to 26 hours of video against 20). Pick the Plus if you watch a lot of video or hate charging every night. Pick the 14 if you want a phone that fits in a pocket.

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 14 Pro

The iPhone 14 Pro adds the 48 MP main camera, a 3x telephoto, the 120 Hz ProMotion screen, Always-On display, the Dynamic Island and the faster A16 chip. It is a clear step up if you care about photos and screen smoothness, and it costs a few hundred dirhams more renewed.

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 15

The iPhone 15 is the sensible upgrade: USB-C instead of Lightning, a 48 MP main camera with 2x zoom, the Dynamic Island and the A16 chip. Both run iOS 27. If you plan to keep the phone for more than three years, the 15 is worth the extra.

iPhone 14 – Frequently asked questions

Does the iPhone 14 have Dynamic Island?

No. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus have the notch at the top of the screen. The Dynamic Island started on the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, and came to the standard model with the iPhone 15.

Does the iPhone 14 have USB-C?

No, it uses Lightning. The iPhone 14 series was the last one with the Lightning port; Apple moved to USB-C with the iPhone 15. The box includes a USB-C to Lightning cable, so it works with a USB-C charger.

How long will the iPhone 14 get iOS updates?

The iPhone 14 supports iOS 27, released in September 2026. Apple usually supports an iPhone for five to six years of major updates, so expect at least one or two more major versions, plus security updates after that.

Is the iPhone 14 still worth buying in 2026?

For most people, yes. It runs the current iOS, the A15 chip handles everyday apps without lag, and the camera is good for photos and video. You miss Apple Intelligence and USB-C. At a renewed price it is one of the best value iPhones in the UAE.

What is the difference between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus?

Screen size and battery. The 14 has a 6.1-inch screen and up to 20 hours of video playback. The 14 Plus has a 6.7-inch screen and up to 26 hours. Chip, cameras and everything else are the same.

Does the iPhone 14 work with eSIM in the UAE?

Yes. The UAE and international model (A2882) has one nano-SIM tray and supports eSIM, so you can run two lines, for example a du eSIM and a physical e& SIM. Only the US model is eSIM-only.

How fast is delivery in the UAE?

Delivery is free anywhere in the UAE. In Dubai it usually arrives within one day, sometimes the same day if you order early. For Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other emirates, allow up to four days.

Can I return the phone if I change my mind?

Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to return it. Returns are not free: there is an AED 100 return fee, which covers collection and re-inspection. The phone needs to come back in the same condition, with everything that was in the box.

What does the 18-month warranty cover?

Our 18-month warranty covers hardware faults that show up in normal use, for example a speaker, camera or charging port that stops working. It does not cover physical damage like a cracked screen, or liquid damage. It is the longest warranty on renewed iPhones in the UAE, and six months longer than Apple's own one-year cover on a new phone.

What does Excellent Grade mean at Refab?

It is the only condition we sell. Excellent Grade means no visible scratches on the screen or body when you hold the phone normally, an original Apple screen, Face ID and every button working, and battery health of 90% or more. If a phone does not meet that, we do not list it.
